Occasional work related travel may be required.<strong><br/></strong></p><p>Reporting to the Manager, Audit, the Assessment Auditor is responsible for developing and implementing compliance audits of employer payroll records to ensure compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Acts and regulations. This role plays a critical part in protecting the integrity of the Workers’ Protection Fund by identifying errors, mitigating revenue risks, and educating employers on their responsibilities.</p><p>More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Assisting in the development of the annual payroll audit plan</li><li>Reviewing statistical and economic data to identify high-risk employers or groups</li><li>Establishing audit scope, timelines, and resource needs</li><li>Preparing and maintaining schedules and reports on audit activities</li><li>Conducting desk and field audits of employer payroll records</li><li>Verifying employer classifications and recommending updates as needed</li><li>Liaising with government agencies to gather and provide audit information</li><li>Determining and preparing payroll adjustments and audit reports</li><li>Conducting preliminary and exit interviews with employers</li><li>Explaining audit results, policies, and employer responsibilities</li><li>Mentoring and providing guidance on audit procedures and practices</li><li>Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of WSCC programs and services</li></ul><h2><strong>About You</strong></h2><p>To qualify, you will need<strong> completion of an advanced level of a recognized Canadian accounting designation or completion of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation</strong>. A minimum of <strong>2 years’ experience conducting compliance audits </strong>will also be essential. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.</p><p>Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:</p><ul><li>Knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and accounting principles</li><li>Knowledge of industry and business operations across small, medium, and large organizations</li><li>Strong research, investigative, and interviewing abilities</li><li>Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Office Suite, and various accounting systems</li><li>Ability to interpret legislation, policies, and procedures</li><li>Ability to speak French is an asset </li></ul><p>As our ideal candidate, you bring strong decision-making, adaptability, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
