Academic Psychiatrist – Child and Youth Psychiatry Division,
Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a psychiatrist to provide care to children and youth with a range of emotional, behavioural and psychiatric difficulties. Duties may include outpatient treatment for children and youth with disruptive behaviours, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, autism spectrum disorder with comorbid mental health problems and youth with bipolar disorder. Duties may also include clinical evaluation and treatment of inpatients with concurrent substance use and psychiatric disorders. Teaching and supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows is an important academic activity as is participation in research.

CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive university in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities.

Applicants must possess a MD Degree, be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Applicants with a sub-specialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry are preferred but this is not a necessary qualification. Candidates should also be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. English language proficiency is required.

This is a full-time permanent role and remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario. As a physician within an academic health centre, there is an opportunity to earn more based on academic merit; 6 weeks of vacation; other benefits not included.
