BMO is currently sourcing for a Senior Accountant (Fund Accounting) on a 12-month contract.
This is primarily remote, with occasional on-site presence required during tax season.


Role Overview

Title: Senior Accountant
Line of Business: Fund Accounting

The Senior Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements for investment funds. This includes preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax filings (T3 and T2), performing independent validation, and providing accounting analysis related to fund distributions and corporate actions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate fund financial statements and reporting packages

  • Review and file T3 and T2 returns in compliance with the Canadian Income Tax Act

  • Analyze accounting and taxation impact of corporate actions and fund events

  • Calculate and analyze income, capital gains distributions, and tax factors

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in fund reporting and disclosures


Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive Investment Fund Accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of the Investment and Securities Industry

  • In-depth knowledge of mutual fund taxation and corporate actions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting systems

  • Experience with TaxPrep

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting designation (CMA or CGA) or actively pursuing one

  • Canadian Securities Course or IFIC designation
