SUMMARY OF POSITION
Envision is hiring an experienced Designer to join our progressive team. The primary role of the Designer is deliver outstanding retail and environmental design solutions for existing and new client business opportunities, reporting to the Account Manager for each project and in collaboration with other departments such as project management, technology and production. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and is confident expressing creative opinions and technical detailing drawings. They will also be able to articulate design rationales to clients to assist in delivering final project solutions.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
· Create compelling design solutions to serve the needs of existing clients, new business relationships and RFP submissions.
· Own the complete design process from ideation to implementation, working either independently or collectively with the rest of the design team
· Mentor junior design team in the creation of retail fixtures, environments, signage and displays.
· Provide clear and concise written and verbal communication to clients, suppliers and the design team – from strategy and concept presentations to team guidance and instruction.
· Work with Production, Technology and Engineering teams to develop concept drawings into manufacturable designs, providing technical drawings for quoting where required.
· Provide quality assurance on creative and physical deliverables.
· Perform with equal enthusiasm and creative input for both client-related and internal design tasks
· Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time, in line with the role, competencies and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Post-Secondary Degree or College Diploma in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or similar creative studies
· Interdisciplinary Studies or equivalent
· 7+ years’ experience as a proven hands-on design professional, preferably working on retail fixtures and environments
· A portfolio that demonstrates experience with various aspects of Industrial Design, Fixture Design, Environmental Design, and Retail Design work within an established design/branding firm or in-house studio (including but not limited to conceptual design, design intent drawings, engineering drawings, etc.)
· A portfolio that demonstrates a balanced blend of creative talent and technical understanding (create fresh, exciting concepts while having an understanding—even at a basic level—of the hardware, technologies, fabrication, and finishes required to bring those concepts into fruition)
· Strong conceptual thinking, including the ability to present ideas and concepts to others
· An understanding of, and design experience in integrating digital into fixtures and environments would be highly valued.
· Compelling design skills to visualize ideas in both 2D and 3D
· Expertise in 3D software such as Solidworks, Rhino, SketchUp, Keyshot and Twinmotion
· Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite
· Literate in Microsoft Office
· UI/UX knowledge would be considered an asset.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Can effectively work in multifaceted team environments as well as being able to complete tasks independently
· A professional standard of excellence in all aspects of work, communications, administration, and relationships.

· A valid Ontario Driver’s license is required
