Steel River SICIM Pipeline is seeking Foreman for an upcoming pipeline construction project.  Positions are field-based and work at the project location in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Key Job Duties:

  • Follow project plans and schedules and ensure that crews perform to meet production goals.
  • Complete on-site reporting of labour, equipment and material (payroll administration, labour coding of time) adhering to Company standards, as it relates to the Foreman’s portion of the project.
  • Manage site tools and equipment and supervise supplier’s material equipment deliveries.
  • Report and estimate actual production achieved relative to project expectations.
  • Monitor actual production complete relative to the project schedule.
  • Perform weekly reviews of labour performance and production with the crew and address results to achieve desired performance.
  • Assist with the preparation of execution plans, ITPs, safe work plans, and work assignments.
  • Facilitate safety meetings.
  • Administer effective quality control by overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production and by ensuring that the crews work to job specifications and follow drawings.
  • Review inspection reports and coordinate resolutions to deficiencies.
  • Assess competency and capability of labourers and tradespersons by evaluating crew capability, and training and coaching crew members to ensure the crew meets the required level of quality.
  • Support job training for apprentices and facilitate mentoring of apprentices by journeymen.
  • Participate in and support day-to-day disciplinary decisions deemed appropriate by the project senior management.
  • Recommend personnel actions (hiring, promotions, and corrective action).
  • Identify and report any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors.
  • Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew.
  • Schedule, plan and direct weekly work for crew personnel and subcontractors.
  • Review and adjust specific activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules.
  • Prepare reports as required (logs, progress reports).
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Ticket Intra-Provincial Trade Certification; and/or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Safety-certified Safety Officer Certificate preferred, or alternatively 4 COR courses.
  • Various safety tickets, certificates and Personal Protective Equipment are required.  Tickets may include, but are not limited to:
    • Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)
    • CSTS-09 or 2020
    • WHMIS 2015
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
    • First Aid certification, an asset
  • Project positions are considered safety-sensitive and are required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and must be in compliance with Company requirements.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an oil and gas construction foreman-related role.
  • Excellent understanding of the pipeline construction industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the pipeline construction industry.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Proficient communication and customer service skills: written and verbal skills, organization abilities and proven attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to meet constantly changing demands of the workplace.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organization, time-management, and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Optimistic/collaborative approach and attitude towards work.

Working Conditions:

  • Positions are field-based.
  • The typical work schedule is 6 days on, 1 day off with 12-hour shifts.
