Steel River SICIM Pipeline is seeking applicants for an upcoming pipeline construction project.  Positions are field-based and work at the project location in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

• Manual material handling and a wide range of general construction activities
• Operate hand and power tools
• Clean construction works areas where needed
• Load, unload, identify and distribute materials and equipment

• Perform a wide variety of skilled construction activity
• Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to labourers
• Ensure crew is meeting or exceeding quality, safety and environmental requirements
• Ensure crew has necessary materials and supplies

• General minor maintenance and checks on equipment
• Operate light equipment and tools
• Fluid hauling, handling and pumping

• Assist operators and other crew members with a variety of manual labour tasks
• Set up and pull-down materials
• Operate light equipment and hand tools

• Assist welders with various welding functions
• Ensure welders have required materials and tools
• Maintaining stock, load, and unload equipment
• Clean construction work areas where needed

General Requirements:

• Previous pipeline construction experience, an asset.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ability to identify safety risks and hazards, and complying with relevant safety procedures and regulations.
• Physically able to perform manual labour outdoors (12 hours per shift, 6 days on, 1 day off).
• Physically able to handle and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Other tasks, duties and requirements as assigned.


Various safety tickets and certificates as required including but not limited to:

  • Positions are safety-sensitive and are required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
  • Ground Disturbance 2 (ABCGA Certification) if participating in Ground Disturbance activities
  • Confined Space Entry/Monitor if entering confined spaces/trench boxes
  • Alberta Standard First Aid, an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Positions are field-based
  • The typical work schedule is 6 days on, 1 day off with 12-hour shifts
