Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance the Logistics and Inventory Control Manager is responsible for leading the inventory team and ensuring that our product is delivered to our customer as soon as it is available. This is achieved by maintaining an accurate inventory, strong partnerships with suppliers and customers and while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all export documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory distribution plan of finished goods to ensure that product is stored in the best location with minimum handling and storage fees
  • Ensure accuracy of all inventory balances. Work with Shipping, Production and Quality departments to ensure that product has been scanned to the appropriate cost centres, ensuring that an audit trail exists for tracking purposes
  • Act as the main point of contact for third party storage facilities
  • Coordinate with outside storage location to ensure inventory accuracy between systems and efficient and cost effective processes for exporting finished goods
  • Coordinate product recall process for all finished goods
  • Active involvement with the Sales and Shipping departments to ensure efficient inventory movements (minimum handling, reduction of surplus inventory, minimal customer shorts).
  • Oversee inventory counts, storage and movements of product for timely, efficient shipping of domestic and exports orders
  • Investigate any inventory discrepancies that may have occurred, determine root cause and create corrective action plan to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensure traceability for all finished good products
  • Work with Finance and auditors to validate system and inventory accuracy at year-end
  • Lead and provide strategic leadership and expertise in the areas of distribution and transportation
  • Identify strategic opportunities to meet logistic requirements and manage and optimize outbound transportation networks
  • Ensure teams are aligned with customer priorities and the deployment of action plans
  • Providing subject matter expertise on inventory management and production planning/scheduling to senior leadership team
  • Coordinate projects to further develop use of CSB (i.e. production planning/scheduling, coverage planning, quality management, product traceability, forecasting, etc.)
  • Leadership and/or participation in other projects and programs, as required
  • Support key internal stakeholders to improve policies & procedures
  • Ensure that the key responsibilities for all direct reports are performed, as appropriate
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance, project progress and future plans
  • Staffing and personnel development across Inventory team, including professional development planning, performance management and succession planning
  • Hold regular 1:1 meetings with all direct reports, giving and receiving feedback, as appropriate
  • Manage the control of all documentation related to export process, ensuring necessary documentation is provided to customers to enable them to receive the products without delay

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • 3 - 5 years senior inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the food processing industry)
  • Ability to manage inventory levels, inventory turnover rates and order fill rates
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge and experience with Customs compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills / team orientation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven production knowledge
  • Proven computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good mathematical skills
