Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Recruitment the incumbent is accountable for providing planning, development, implementation and management of all corporate, student and stakeholder communications for Georgian College. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Corporate Communications, Strategic Planning and Implementation, which includes:
• Working closely with the Director and Vice President to develop and implement communication strategies to assist all divisions of the College in attaining their communications objectives while ensuring clear and consistent communication flow to all college constituents
• Coordinating the production and dissemination of the College strategic plan as well as the internal and external communication plan
• Preparation of the communication plan and budget to ensure the college's position is favourable, coherent and consistent and that all stakeholders are informed through various media channels
• Planning and directing the development of correspondence and related materials in consultation with the President's office
• Cultivating individual respectful and responsive relationships with media representatives, producers and editors
• Taking responsibility for content management on the college website, social media, employee portal and employee communications as well as ensuring the visual content (i.e. video / photography) is aligned with the overall college messaging
Student Communications and Promotion of College Program and Events, which includes:
• Coordinating the development and implementation of communication plans directed to both current and prospective students, contributing to marketing and student information programs and campaigns that support student enrolment and retention targets
Corporate Events, which includes:
• Planning and implementation of certain events such as media announcements, internal Town Halls and / or large staff events
• Responding effectively to media events in a timely fashion, often with limited lead time and in consultation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to coordinate all aspects of the response
Implementation of Corporate Branding, Visual Identity Initiatives and Content Strategy, which includes:
• Ensuring compliance with our corporate Georgian branding guidelines in presenting a professional and consistent image to all stakeholders across various communication channels
• Reinforcing College objectives, key messages and differentiating Georgian from other postsecondary institutions through the execution of a content strategy and collaboration on the brand strategy
• Supporting employees to become "brand messengers" while monitoring, guiding and implementing the College brand positions and key messages
Human and Financial responsibilities, which include:
• Ensuring that the assignments of the communications team are carried out, consistent with their job descriptions, College policies and procedures
• Maintaining a high level of staff performance through effective recruitment, selection, training, professional development, motivation and evaluation of staff
• Developing and managing the budget for the annual communications plan

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Successfully completed a three year diploma / degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to communications, public relations, journalism or marketing
• Accreditation in the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and / or the Association of Business Communicators (ABC) is an asset
• Seven years' experience managing a medium to large communications department (preferably in a public sector or educational environment)
• Demonstrated strategic communications planning skills
• Demonstrated experience with media strategy and media relations including media training and interview preparation capability
• Demonstrated experience developing content and social media strategies and overseeing social media channels
• Demonstrated leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
• Demonstrated experience in crisis and issues management
• Knowledge of government relations and the post-secondary education system would be an asset
• Proven superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, web content management and CRM systems
• Proven ability to be analytical and intuitive with organizational and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to quickly set priorities and manage multiple projects in a timely and effective manner
• Proven ability to promote a team environment with a collaborative approach to work
