We are seeking a Senior Estimator with expertise in civil specialty, particularly in estimating large infrastructure and transportation projects.
The Senior Estimator’s key responsibilities will be:
Duties:
- Coordinating the Contractor estimate for the Target Price.
- Collaborating with other teams within Onxpress, such as the Construction Team, the Environmental Team or the Survey Team to ensure that the Target Price is produced properly
- Participating during the Development Phase in the estimation of changes to the target price
- Performing and organizing the works within the Estimating Team, namely, quantity take-offs, preparation of procurement packages, comparison sheets with the information received from suppliers and subcontractors, risk identification, etc.
- Performing Specialized Civil Engineering estimating tasks such as SOE, ground improvement, dewatering, piling, soil or rock anchors, soil grouting earthwork, backfill, grading, etc. for all locations, on his or her own and with the help of other estimators.
- Fostering positive relationships with Client, Consultants, and key subcontractors, and any stakeholder involved in the project.
- Upholding confidentiality and protect proprietary information.
- Maintaining Estimating data systems to ensure they are up to date.
- Contributing to project success and learning through effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensuring compliance with Estimating processes and procedures for consistency and accuracy
- Managing and coordinating construction projects while adhering to the project’s risk management policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is required
- 10 years/ experience of progressive estimating experience in civils construction, track, buildings, or related disciplines with at least 3 years’ experience in leading the complete. estimate for a major capital construction project.
- Rapid Rail and Transit estimating experience including developing the estimate for Stations, Rail, and Systems is required.
- Experience with developing a class 2 estimate according to AACE guideline.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the rail and transit industry environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential.
- Experience with estimating software, particularly Hard Dollar, is required.
- Experience with HCSS, iSqFt, Bluebeam, Plant Swift, AutoCaD is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building positive working relationships.
- Understanding of site conditions impacting bid costs and constructability
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Familiarity with various types of construction contracts, including Cost Reimbursable, Target, and Guaranteed Maximum Price.
- Understanding of the job handover process from estimating to operations.
