STRABAG is actively seeking 2 Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Superintendent for our Canadian division where he/she can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization.  The successful candidates will be stationed our project in Toronto.

Job Summary:

The TBM Superintendent will be responsible for managing the mining operations of the EPB (Earth Pressure Balance) Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at the jobsite, operations at the surface and collaboration with the Instrumentation, technical and monitoring departments. Continue to work closely with all teams on the surface and underground.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the assembly, start up, maintenance and disassembly of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)
  • Coordinates TBM mining operation during the working shift
  • Overall supervisory responsibility for planning, coordinating and reviewing all Mining Operation for the TBM
  • Preparation, submission, review and modifying/updating of procedures, method statements, shop drawings, etc. Specially the Tunnel Mining Operations Work Plan
  • Implementation of procedures, method statements, shop drawings and overseeing remedial measures when specified limits are approached or exceeded
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly TBM production reports
  • Assisting Quality Department during the ring build inspecting for quality of ring assembly, as well as cracks/imperfections after assembly; coordinate ring repairs as necessary
  • Maintains working knowledge of applicable codes and standards for a project
  • Protection of facilities, and other elements of the tunnel works including operations in the TBM launching and receiving shafts and surface, to ensure safety, quality, conformance with the Contract Documents, timely completion of the Works and the keeping of accurate records of all work as required herein
  • Enforces site safety at all times
  • Coordination with other TBM Equipment Engineer and TBM Tunnel Foremen
  • Promote STRABAG to all those associated with the project by demonstrating professional skill and a high standard of fairness and integrity
  • Participate in business development activities including proposals and tenders for new projects
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in EPB (Earth Pressure Balance) TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) construction
  • Experience in assembling, operating, maintaining, repairing 11/12 m in diameter EPB Tunnel boring Machine
  • Experience with TBM Hyperbaric Interventions
  • Excellent, planning, organization and communication skills
  •  
Education:
  • Secondary (High) school graduation certificate or equivialent experience
