<div><div>Job Description </div>RESPONSIBILITIES •    Ensure resident care is provide with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, as well as, observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care. •    Assess residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate resident care plans. Monitor residents’ health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physician orders. •    Organize and direct functions and activities related to provision of care to residents including restorative care and palliative care as required. Interprets and implements established policies, procedures, and regulations. •    Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit. Orient and train new personnel and may participate in in-service education. Monitor performance and conduct performance appraisal and refers problems to the Director of Care. QUALIFICATIONS •    Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required. •    Registration or eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario. •    Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices. •    Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors. •    Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.  Time Type:Full time</div>

<div><div>Job Description </div>Job Description Candidates are invited to apply for the full time, Temporary afternoon position of Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) at EXTENDICARE Hills a 130-bed accredited long term care facility located in Georgetown, Ontario.Reporting to the Director of Care (DOC), the ADOC is accountable for assisting with the management of all aspects of nursing care within the facility to ensure quality resident care through the effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES:· Assists the DOC in the implementation and evaluation of the nursing department quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, data collection and analysis, report writing, procedural updates;· Takes the lead in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care (i.e. falls, restraint use, wound management, Infection Control)· Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies· Responsible for the High Intensity Needs program· Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level that maximizes staff resources and contributes to Extendicare Scarborough’s interdisciplinary team approach to resident care· Effectively supports the RAI-MDS program· Maintains an active presence in the Resident Home Areas mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care· Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; develops and monitors modified work programs for nursing personnel· Works collaboratively with the Director of Care on special projects, reviews, and other duties as may be assigned· Assumes responsibility for the nursing department in the Director of Care’s absence.QUALIFICATIONS:· Registered Nurse; BScN preferred· Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario· Minimum of three years experience in long term care; previous management experience an asset· Current knowledge of clinical issues for geriatric residents, infection control, principles of adult education and quality improvement· Knowledge of RAI MDS· Demonstrated superior leadership and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills· Computer skills: Microsoft Word; Excel, computerized resident care and assessment programs· Knowledge of applicable legislation, current nursing and healthcare practices; demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residentsTime Type:Full timeWhen you choose to build your career with Extendicare, you’re joining a team dedicated to making a difference.
