Start your phenomenal career with Allied Universal today!<h2>Job Description</h2> Title: Security Professionals Location: Ottawa, Ontario Type: Full-timeNumber of roles: 12Pay Rate: $18.00Shift: 08:00-20:00 or 20:00-08:00 4-week rotation Overview:Allied Universal, a global leader in security services, is currently seeking a highly skilled Security Professional to oversee security operations across the Ottawa area. This position requires a dedicated security professional with a strong commitment to safety, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to maintain a calm, effective response in high-pressure situations. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, flexible, and ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring the security of our client site. Responsibilities: <ul><li>Management of all lost and found items as per site policies.</li><li>Deals with Staff and the Public in a confident, professional manner and de-escalate volatile situations. E.g., liaise with people in waiting areas in situations of high volumes/extended wait times to manage expectations and maintain a de-escalated situation.</li><li>Regularly patrol all interior and exterior building(s) and areas of property,</li><li>including Parking Areas. Electronically record check in points, as required by site.</li><li>Show professional, visible presence in general exterior area, ED waiting room, at access points, shift changes, and upon request to specific locations (e.g.: in view of a particular patient).</li><li>Control removal of assets and equipment from the building.</li><li>Manages building entry and egress access control, as required </li><li>Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, intrusion detection systems and fire detection</li><li>Notify the Security Manager or other designated staff members of any safety hazards,</li><li>maintenance problems, and other concerns, unusual events, and/or suspicious activity.</li><li>Documentation of duties performed on shift and involvement of incidents and create necessary notes and reports.</li><li>Enforces hospital policies as they relate to smoking/vaping on hospital property, including parking lot areas.</li><li>Understand Purchaser policies and procedures as they relate to security.</li><li>Performing security escorts, as required.</li><li>Assist, support, and cooperate with staff, police, fire, and EMS as needed</li><li>Responding to calls for locking and unlocking doors and elevators, arranging access to</li><li>controlled areas (e.g. Morgue, conference rooms, Family Care Centre, stores supplies), as needed.</li><li>Locks and unlocks elevators and places in Fire mode for the Fire Department, when required</li><li>Respond, on scene, to emergency codes (as appropriate per the Purchaser) and all other types of security related emergencies (e.g. alarms in building security/door access, wandering and duress alerts, etc.) as they occur. Participates in debriefings when requested.</li><li>Respond to secondary sites as required by the Purchaser.</li><li>Manage and respond to issues at the parking lot gates and pay stations, </li><li>Perform Patient Watch / Rapid Response Security Guard duties, as a replacement or if required.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications: <ul><li>Must have a valid Ontario Security License.</li><li>High School Diploma required</li><li>1-2 years of experience as a security guard.</li><li>Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week</li><li>Good communication written and oral</li><li>Good interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities</li><li>First aid and CPR level C</li><li>Certified Use of Force training; certified to use handcuffs.</li></ul> Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Remain on your feet or walk continuously (potentially for an entire shift) on different surfaces.</li><li>Occasionally ascend stairs, ramps, or ladders throughout the shift.</li><li>Possess a good knowledge and expertise in all aspects of security/fire emergency procedures, all Hospital Emergency</li><li>Periodically bend or twist at the waist, knees, or neck to complete various tasks.</li><li>Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.</li><li>Work in various conditions, including outdoor environments with extreme weather such as cold, snow, rain, or heat.</li><li>Running may be required.</li></ul> Additional Requirements: Must sign an attestation for the following vaccinations:<ul><li>Mantoux test (tuberculosis) </li><li>Measles/Rougeole (proof of vaccination or serology)</li><li>Measles/ Oreillons (proof of vaccination or serology) </li><li>German Measles or Rubella (proof of vaccination or serology) </li><li>Chicken Pox Varicelle (proof of vaccination or serology) </li><li>Covid vaccinations - 1 shot is mandatory</li><li>Highly recommended (but not required): - Hepatitis B -Flu Vaccination</li></ul>Benefits :<ul><li>Opportunities for career growth and advancement.</li><li>Comprehensive health and dental benefits </li><li>Paid training and development programs.</li></ul>Disclaimer:As part of our standard hiring process, all candidates being considered for employment with Allied Universal are required to undergo a background check.
