Human Resource Assistant Overview
Within an organization, the human resource, or HR, department is responsible for managing the workforce, or human capital. The role of an HR Assistant is generally to provide administrative support to the HR director. Such support usually involves all personnel matters, including payroll processing. The scope of an HR Assistant's responsibilities depends greatly on the overall size of the organization. Regardless of scope, the assistant is usually directly responsible for performing customer service functions, such as handling employee questions and requests.
Human Resource Assistant Education Requirements
Human Resource Assistant jobs generally require at least a high school diploma as those with no diploma account for only 2.6 percent of the workforce. Those with a high school diploma account for 19.9 percent, and the remainder of the workforce is mostly those with some college, an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree. HR Assistants must be people-oriented as their responsibilities rely heavily on interpersonal skills, oral and written communication and their ability to organize and solve problems. Since an HR Assistant must actively promote safety and security, it is also important that they have extensive familiarity within these fields as they relate to the specific business.
