Logistics Jobs: Overview
Supply chains rely on skilled logisticians to analyze and coordinate the storage and movement of products and materials. When you work in logistics, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the production, transportation, and delivery of in-demand inventory. Logistics jobs require knowledge of supply chains, and good problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Logisticians typically carry out these day-to-day tasks:
- Overseeing the lifecycle of products from design to disposal.
- Directing the allocation of products, supplies, and materials.
- Developing business relationships with clients and suppliers.
- Devising strategies to understand and meet clients’ needs.
- Finding ways to improve and refine logistical functions.
- Proposing strategies to streamline the cost and transportation of goods.
Most logisticians work for manufacturing companies, but some work for government agencies, wholesale trade companies, and retail enterprises. Expect a full-time schedule with some possible overtime to ensure that operations go as scheduled.

Update Your Logistics Resume
When was the last time you updated your logistics resume? If it’s been a while, you have likely acquired new skills and experience that employers will be interested in. These six steps can help you dust off the old resume and prepare it for employers. When you’re ready to add more elements to your resume, these top 10 questions can help put the writing aspect into perspective.
While it’s always best practice to send a cover letter when you apply, it’s important to get creative if you want to get noticed. To create a cover letter that catches that eye, you’ll need to start with a strong introduction, discuss your professional background, provide examples of your accomplishments, and end with enthusiasm for the job. Proper formatting is important for making your cover letter easy to read and navigate. See Monster’s guide to cover letter formatting to learn how to organize your cover letter.
Interviewing for Logistics Jobs
So, you’ve got an interview coming up. That’s great news. But if you want to make a good first impression, you’ll need to prepare yourself ahead of time.
