The education and experience requirements for retail managers are also higher, so this weeds out applicants and provides more opportunities for those who do have the necessary experience and management knowledge.

The city in which the employee works plays a role in the starting pay rate, as does the experience level of the candidate. Retail store managers earn a median salary of C$41,262. Since these positions are generally paid a salary instead of an hourly rate, they are often eligible to receive bonuses based on the performance of the store location. Some companies also offer additional profit-sharing and commission pay to those who manage stores throughout Canada.
